Adjunct Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Columbia University, New York, USA. He is also Emeritus Professor at the School of Medicine at the University of Leeds and a director of Genome Ltd.

Several of the best antenatal screening tests currently available have been developed by Professor Cuckle and his teams.

He has spent his life working towards improving screening tests for Down’s syndrome, cystic fibrosis, neural tube defects, fragile X and adverse outcomes of pregnancy such as early pre-eclampsia. He has enormous empathy for those that face unbearable choices and aims to reduce the number of false positive results and ease the suffering of those affected by these conditions.

He has an endless list of achievements, but we just think he’s an incredibly talented and caring man who gives his absolute attention to the women that he cares for.

High Risk obstetrician in Feto Maternal Medicine at Leeds General Infirmary.

Gerald is supremely devoted to High Risk Obstetricis in Feto Maternal Medicine, dealing with severly complex cases. He established Leeds as a National Feto Maternal training centre and is network lead for fetal medicine for the Yorkshire and Humber region where is is devoted to the standardisation of care for all women with a fetal medicine problem.

Gerald featured on the hit TV reality show “One born every minute”on Channel 4, filmed at the Leeds Teaching Hospital which documents the emotion of a maternity unit from the perspective of the parents-to-be and the maternity ward staff. Not shy of emotion, he is soft and caring in nature and has the most delicate approach to addressing real and difficult problems that leaves parents feeling safe, calm and secure in his care. We think of him sometimes as the father figure you need at the most trying moments in life.

Emma is Consultant Obstetrician working in one of the largest teaching hospitals in Europe and has a special interest in prenatal diagnosis, multiple pregnancy and high risk obstetrics. Her empathic nature stands her apart from the usual. She understands every aspect of patient care, all the treatments and options available and will always give an unbiased view having absolute respect for a woman’s need to be in control of her pregnancy.

Graduating from Liverpool Medical School in 1990 she was appointed Consultant in Feto-Matenal Medicine at Leeds General Infirmary in 2001. Since being appointed she set up the first dedicated Multiple Pregnancy Clinic at Leeds General Infirmary.

Consultant Cardiologist

Since Shuba was appointment to a Consultant Fetal Cariologist post in 2007 she set about creating an empire of clinical excellence in Yorkshire and the Humber region. Largely as a result of her passion and commitment to her team, she works tirelessly to share her knowledge and improve the service to women in detecting congenital heart disease so that treatment can be given and lives can be saved.

She is responsible for the rolling out of an extensive training programme for obstetric sonographers when before this, only very minimal screening was performed routnely.

Shuba is most happy with her boots on and a stick in her hand walking the Yorkshire moors on her doorstep, yes, she’s one of those. But we love her for her endless enthusiasm and her humble approach when counselling women who are in need of her wisdom. She’s a gem.

Consultant Radiologist

James is Consultant Radiologist and working at Preston Royal Infirmary. He has exceptional Radiology experience in CT, MRI, interventional radiology and fluoroscopy. His ultrasound experience is far-reaching and includes:

Abdominal / Pelvic / Thyroid and neck / Testicular / Soft tissue ultrasound, Ultrasound guided drainage and aspiration, Transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) guided prostate biopsy, Percutaneous nephrostomy and ureteric stenting, Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR) for the treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysm, Uterine Fibroid Embolisation (UFE) for the non-surgical treatment of uterine fibroids, Testicular varicocoele embolisation for the non-surgical treatment of testicular varicocoele and much more!

James lives with his lovely wife in Preston and is a dab-hand at tennis and five-a-side football making him the fittest member of our team!

Director of this is my: Health Screening & Ultrasound Centre and Expert Clinical Specialist.
Qualified in ultrasound at Leeds St James’s University Hospital in 1990 and obtained her Masters in 1998.

Judith has many years of experience in the ultrasound field and specialises in several clinical areas of ultrasound including obstetric, gynaecological, abdominal and small parts.

We all know her to be passionate and dynamic about providing excellence in medical services. She is compassionate woman and will deliver all the facts with the kindest of care needed. She loves her job and loves the people she serves.

Judith is our super-woman. She holds the Diploma of the College of Radiographers, the Diploma in Medical Ultrasound, the MHSc in Medical Ultrasound and is accredited by the Fetal Medicine Foundation for the assessment and imaging of nuchal translucency, nasal bone, ductus venous and uterine Doppler arteries.

She is a member of the British Medical Ultrasound Society and The Society of Radiographers and is a registered member of the Health Professions Council. She lectures and teaches the various topics and aspects of ultrasound and its uses.

Clinical Specialist in Ultrasound

Sarah qualified at St. James’s University Hospital, Leeds in 1996 where she worked as an Advanced Practitioner. Sarah has a beautiful, calm demeanour and intellect that is razor-sharp. She has an interest in obstetrics, gynaecological, abdominal, vascular, small parts and lithotripsy (treatment of kidney stones with ultrasound). Her speciality however is musculoskeletal ultrasound where she takes personal pride in the effective diagnosis of injury and disease to enable people to heal and maintain mobility. Being so versed, she lectures and teaches postgraduates, undergraduates and medical practitioners.

She holds the Diploma of the College of Radiographers, Post Graduate Diploma in Ultrasound, Certificate in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound and is accredited by the FMF for the assessment of nuchal translucency. She is also a member of the British Medical Ultrasound Society and is a registered member of the Health Professions Council.

After gaining her degree in Diagnostic Radiography from the University of Salford in 1994, Kathy worked at Scarborough and York hospitals and then went on the gain a Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound from Leeds University in 1998. Kathy then went on to work at hospitals in Nottingham and Halifax, developing a special interest in obstetrics, gynaecology and abdominal techniques.  In 2014, Kathy further extended her skills in to musculoskeletal ultrasound, gaining a Post Graduate Certificate, again from Leeds University. Amongst her qualifications are FMF certification in NT scanning, Fetal cardiography and Fetal Doppler assessment, alongside full Health Professions Council registration and Society of Radiographers membership.

In her spare time, Kathy enjoys walking and completed the ‘national three peaks’ challenge to raise funds for the British Lung Foundation. She also has a keen interest in amateur dramatics, having recently been involved as the society choreographer for local productions such as Hairspray, We Will Rock You and Jesus Christ Superstar amongst others. 

Davina Bhanabhai

Davina qualified as a sonographer at St. James’ University Hospital in 2006 and has worked there since as an Advanced Practitioner. She is passionate about ultrasound, considering it be her ‘dream job’, and has a strong interest in scanning obstetric, gynaecological, abdominal, small parts and lithotripsy ultrasound.  She teaches post- graduate students and Radiology Registrars in her clinical setting. 
Graduating from the University of Leeds, she holds the BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography, Post Graduate Diploma in Ultrasound and is accredited by the Fetal Medicine Foundation for assessment of nuchal translucencies. She is a member of the Society of Radiographers and is recognised by the HCPC. 

As well as her job, Davina most enjoys spending time with her family and her two adorable daughters!

Jayne Gamble DCR(R) DMU

Jayne Gamble

…has worked for over 30 years in the NHS ,24 of those in ultrasound . She has specialised in women’s health including all areas of obstetric ultrasound from early pregnancy assessment to term pregnancies . She is competent in the transvaginal assessment of the cervical length in patients who have suffered recurrent miscarriages .She has presented papers on the ultrasound demonstration of the fallopian tubes and taught on courses associated with the technique . Jayne has also worked for many years in a private fertility clinic
She has also acted as mentor and assessor to students studying for the Pg Dip in ultrasound from the university of Leeds

Jayne holds  the Diploma from the college of Radiographers ,Graduate Diploma in ultrasound ,Certificate in Vascular imaging ,She is Fetal Medicine Foundation accredited for the assesment of Nuchal translucency .She is a registered member of the Health Professional Council and the Society of radiographers .

 Being a mother to 2 teenage children she has little spare time however, she is a keen runner having just completed her second marathon.

Indera Sehmi

Indera Sehmi

As Screening Co-ordinator, Indera is responsible for all aspects of service development for fetal anomaly screening for NHS patients in Leeds and surrounding districts and for private patients nationally.

With love and dedication, Indera oversees development and monitoring of systems and infrastructures. She will liaise with consultants, midwives and everyone to ensure the best quality of service and client experience. Indera takes her role seriously and responds to all feedback with grace and an iron will to always do better.

Chloe Porter

Chloe is a warm and generous woman who is the glue that holds the team together. She is one of our Screening Co-ordinators and as such she’ll often be the one who answers your calls. You can talk to Chloe about anything. Her knowledge of our services is second to none and she’s passionate about providing a high standard of customer service to our clients.

But that’s not all of Chloe’s talents, she is a trained phlebotomists, studying at St James’ University Hospital. If there’s a vein that we cannot find, Chloe will coax it out without a fuss.

Outside of work Chloe can be found with her head in a good book, (we say good loosely!) or caring for her own very new family.

Jayde is also co-ordinator and comes from a customer service background. She is bursting with fresh ideas and enthusiasm and we enjoy her genuine care for our patients. She’s of quite temperament but don’t be fooled, Jayde has an eagles eye for detail and keeps everyone in check. She is soft and kind in nature and will do everything possible to ensure you receive the best possible service with us.

Personally, Jayde enjoys good food, good wine & good company. We know we are part of the good company she keeps and we value her immensely.

Georgie came to us from a line of customer service roles and fit in perfectly.

Georgie is a big hit with our patients known for her bubbly personality and sweet nature.

When Georgie is not in the office she can be found socialising with friends in the nearest bar or restaurant.

Maja Talaj

Maja is of Polish origin and is fantastic at helping if needed with interpretations.

On a weekend Maja can be found at the squash courts or hiking up a hill in the Yorkshire dales.

Katie is currently studying for her final year of A level exams at The North Halifax Grammar School Sixth Form with the intention to continue her studies at university come September 2016. Her subject choices of Photography, Media and Business gives her a diverse range of skills which she can apply in all different circumstances. She hopes to be studying Real Estate at university; Though unrelated to health screening and ultrasound imaging, Katie will encounter a lot of different people in her future career, which we think will suit her perfectly as one of her main qualities is her people skills. 

Katie loves socialising and could talk to you about almost anything! So don’t be shy to have a chat upon any engagement you may have with her. When not at Sixth Form or this is my, Katie enjoys horse riding, swimming and going out with friends.
