10+ weeks (but ideally between 24 – 32 weeks)
The 4D scan will assess the well-being of baby, including an estimated fetal weight. The more detailed package, 4D Diamond, will also check the flow in the umbilical artery and uterine arteries to make sure that your baby is receiving the correct amount of nourishment to grow and the placenta is functioning as it should. We also measure the amniotic fluid levels surrounding your baby to ensure the baby has the right amount or room to move and grow.
Ideal visualization of your baby means that most 4D bonding scans are performed between 24 and 32 weeks, however, we will perform the 4D Pearl scan from as early as 10 weeks as some women want to have a 4D picture record of their baby early in its life. Early 4D scans are a peek at baby rather than a dedicated 4D bonding session.
At this is my we allow you to bring as many guests as you wish to this celebration.
Your 4D scan will be carried out by a fully qualified clinical specialist or obstetrician who is informed on all matters relating to the safety of ultrasound.
Though primarily an opportunity for you to see your baby, our 4D scans are part of a medical well-being assessment and as such we will share all of our findings with you and a clinical report will be given to you to place in your pregnancy notes.
We use the very latest ultrasound technology that is well maintained and use low power sound that is completely safe. 3D scanning is as safe as ordinary ultrasound and the length of our 4D scans are selected for reasons of safety and compliance with professional guidelines.
The position of baby is very important for the quality of the scan and the pictures we take. Sometimes a baby’s face is against the placenta or facing away from the scan probe. It is so disappointing when this happens, however we will do our very best to make this an enjoyable experience. We may ask you to go for a walk, have a drink or change your position several times to coax these shy babies into a better position. If your baby’s position is still not favorable on the first occasion we will give you the option to return.
Our Sonographers take pride in these baby bond scans and we always try our best to achieve optimal images.
4D and 3D ultrasound Scans
You will find the term is interchangeable and usually the 4th dimension is simply watching your baby move in 3D imagery.
There are four 3D/4D scanning package options available all specifically devised with your needs in mind and covering nearly every stage in pregnancy.

Note: Whilst it is possible to provide 4D scans after 32 weeks, due to baby starting to prepare themselves for birth and the moving position in the womb, it may not be possible to get all the pictures and DVD images we would expect after this 32 week period. We are very happy to try, but want to be completely open with you before you come in if you’re over 32 weeks pregnant for a 4D scan.
What is included in each package option?
Details of what’s included in each package are shown in the table above. There are no hidden extra costs to pay. The package you choose depends on what you want to know, how many images you’d like, whether you want a movie DVD of your baby scan or if you’d like to also include a full wellbeing check of your baby with your 4D scan. If there is anything special you want to request on the Diamond 4D option, please ask. One Couple requested if they could record the noise of their babies heart beat onto their iPhone to try and use as a ringtone, we’re confident we can accommodate your wishes.
It’s also important to know that for those who wish to know or have the gender or sex of their baby confirmed, this is included in each package price and is available from 18 weeks gestation. For those who want the surprise on baby’s day of arrival it can be kept a secret!
You’ll be given moving images of your scan on any DVD recording. You may even see your baby stretch and yawn and this will be captured on to DVD which will make sure the memories will stay with you. You can even share this experience with friends and family by uploading the DVD to the internet or maybe it remains safe for when baby is big enough to see for themselves.
